Bulk Terminal Expansion

Belterra successfully completes the installation, splicing, vulcanizing and tensioning of over 7000 ft of 84” ST 1250 steel cord conveyor belt at one of the world's leading coal handling bulk terminals. Belterra was contracted to supply both the steel cord and fabric conveyor belt and installation services for the proposed equipment upgrade. Technicians were required to work around the clock to meet deadlines. Due to the depth and quality of our employees, Belterra completed this project on time, on budget and with no lost man hours and without any disruption to our regular business commitments.

Once stringing of the 84” wide conveyor
belt is complete, safely clamped a proper
work station will be set up so splicing
and vulcanizing can be completed.

Elk View Coal

The world's second largest exporter of metallurgical coal, producing 20% of the world's seaborne hard metallurgical coal for the international steel industry is located in the Elk Valley region in southeastern British Columbia. Belterra was contracted to apply our air brake systems and install a 500 meter conveyor belt section in our customer's Raw Coal Belt - 17000 ft 48” ST4640 3/8” x 5/16” CSA Type C . The critical spare section was supplied in shorter pieces thus increasing the work load and downtime. Once the belt was brought into position, the air brakes applied, the stringing and splicing began. A crew of 12 qualified technicians completed the grueling work in 120 hours.
